Create, Attach, Connect and Treasure

Come spend two days with Amy, creating one of kind charms,
necklaces and bracelets. We will be cutting, stamping, drilling, wire
wrapping, beading, and soldering to create unique pieces to be treasured.
We will go over different ways to use found pieces, incorporate
gemstones and metal and create a unique focal point out of metal and
mica. Amy will bring lots of samples to jumpstart your creativity.
Amy
will share her whimsical way of mixing delicate finds with delete
forgotten treasures. If you are a beginner or a long time creator this
will be a fun adventure to dig into your treasure boxes, collections of
souvenirs, or gemstones.We will have an exciting time mixing them up
and creating new elements. She will be going over different methods of
attaching and connections. Amy will be discussing layout and design and
she will be demonstrating how to wire wrap, bead and solder. You will
also be creating a one of a kind focal point made from metal and mica.
Amy will be bringing different sized metal stamps to share.

SCHEDULE for BOTH DAYS:
- Arrive & Settle: 9:00 :: Time for students to arrive, settle in.
- Class Segment A: 9:30-12:00 :: Class time with Amy who will demonstrate and guide the 1st part of class.
- Lunch & Stroll: 12:00 PM :: You can choose to brown bag it or take a stroll to one of the many hip
and artsy eateries in the historic Artist's Village in Santa Ana, like C4 Dei, Chapter One, and The Gypsy Den.
- Class Segment B: 1:30-4:30 PM :: Class time with Amy who will guide the 2nd part of class.
- Show & Tell, Clean-Up & Depart: 4:30-5:00 PM
WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD BRING &
WHAT TEACHER WILL BRING:
- round-nose pliers, wire cutters, crimper, metal hole punch (the kind you can squeeze) and two pairs of flat-nose pliers. These can all be found at Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
- butane torch like this one
- gemstones (medium to large in size) to wire-wrap smaller ones to bead
- 16- and 18-gauge sterling silver wire (round, dead soft) to use to make chain links and to create a closure. You can order your wire from Rio Grande. Depending on the gemstones you bring, you may additional wire in different gauges that can go through your gemstones so you may need to get additional wire in different gauges. The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the wire.
- you may also want to bring different styles of chain (vintage or new) and this could be made of any metal. I love to combine different designs and metals.
- vintage findings if you have them ... anything interesting to you. For example: religious medals, relics, rosarys, rhinestone pendants, Victorian mourning pieces, vintage rhinestone clasps. If you need examples or ideas, you can refer to my book, Rejuvenated Jewels.
- I will be bringing fine beading wire so if you want to bead anything heavier, please bring your own beading wire.
- also ... always good to have some jump rings, crimp beads & crimp covers.
KIT FEE:
$15 will be collected by the instructor from each student during the workshop.
- Each student will be provided with a kit that includes beading wire, crimp beads, jump rings, sheet metal, pyrite beads, and mica.
NOTES:
- Amy will have a limited number of art jewelry pieces available for sale.
