Behind the Faces Art Journal

Our thoughts and feelings are often covered up by the face we put on for the world to see. It's time to uncover those thoughts and expose them for a time before we cover them with layers of paint in self-portrait, journal-style paintings done in a Portrait Portfolio Style journal we will make in class. Using my Face map Stencils makes this a "no fear" workshop. If you haven't done faces before, don't let fear of drawing front, side, and 3/4 view profiles stop you! We'll learn how to control layers, push them, and celebrate them!

SCHEDULE:

• Arrive & Settle: 8:30 :: Time for students to arrive, and settle.
• Class Segment A: 9:00-12:00 :: Class time with Pam who will demonstrate and guide the 1st part of class.
• Lunch & Stroll: 12:00 PM :: You can choose to brown bag it or take a stroll to one of the many hip and artsy eateries in the historic Artist's Village in Santa Ana, like The Gypsy Den.
• Class Segment B: 1:30-4:30 PM :: Class time with Pam who will guide the 2nd part of class.
• Show & Tell, Clean-Up & Depart: 4:30-5:00 PM

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING:

• Three 12 x 12 sheets of decorative scrapbook cardstock paper (the kind that has designs on both sides)
• Bone folder tool
• Palette
• Paintbrushes in assorted sizes
• Pencil
• Black permanent pen (I like the superfine Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens)

TEACHER WILL PROVIDE to share:

• Gesso
• Paints
• Mediums
• Stencils
• Inks
• Stamps
• Binding materials
• Stabilo pencil
• Face map stencils

NOTES:

• Pam will have a limited number of art pieces available for sale.
