Art Journaling Class

1-Day Workshop on Saturday, November 10, 2012

Join me for a layering exploration.
We will create a unique hand-bound journa that is layered with art and meaning. We'll use art techniques and color and composition know-how to build Dina-style layers. Get ready to sketch, scrape, ink, scribble, paint, wash, and rub. We'll learn how to control layers, push them, and celebrate them!

SCHEDULE:

• Arrive & Settle: 8:30 :: Time for students to arrive, and settle in.
• Class Segment A: 9:00-12:00 :: Class time with Dina who will demonstrate and guide the 1st part of class.
• Lunch & Stroll: 12:00 PM :: You can choose to brown bag it or take a stroll to one of the many hip and artsy eateries in the historic Artist's Village in Santa Ana, like The Gypsy Den, or Lola Gaspar.
• Class Segment B: 1:30-4:00 PM :: Class time with Dina who will guide the 2nd part of class.
• Show & Tell, Clean-Up & Depart: 4:00-5:00 PM

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING:

• Good black pen for journaling
• Paint brushes
• Acrylic paints in your favorite colors
• Gesso
• Gel medium (I prefer matte, soft-gel)
• Scissors
• Good strong adhesive (you can use your gel medium, if you like)

TEACHER WILL PROVIDE:

• Watercolor paper
• Stabilo marks-all pencil
• Canvas boards
• Canvas strips
• Bits of ephemera
• Tags

TEACHER & STUDIO WILL PROVIDE TO THE CLASS GROUP TO SHARE:

• Stencils
• Spray inks
• Sewing machine
• Rubber stamps
• Inkpads
• Palette knives
• Scrapers
• Rags
• Wipes
• Paper Towels
• Corner rounder

NOTES:

• Dina will have a limited number of art pieces available for sale.
